Gentle Tiger-The Gallant Life of Roberdeau Wheat

Gentle Tiger: The Gallant Life of Roberdeau Wheat

GENTLE TIGER is the story of one of the most remarkable nineteenth century figures in American History, Chatham Roberdeau Wheat. Lawyer, soldier of fortune, revolutionary, patriot. Wheat is a well-known Confederate hero, but he also fought with William Walker in South America and with Garibadli in Italy. During the Battle of Bull Run he survived a major wound fighting with his Louisiana Tigers beside Stonewall Jackson’s Virginians. Wheat is featured in the definitive book on the Confederacy, “Lee’s Lieutenants”. Killed at Gaines Mill. A relative of General Daniel Roberdeau, who was in the Continental Congress and a signer of the Articles of Confederation during the American Revolution.
