This map was includes an overview of Louisiana’s role in the American Civil War, the location of the battlefield, and numbers and losses of the battles that took place in Louisiana.  Museums, State Parks, and Historic Sites are also featured.

Did you know?

  • New Orleans was the most populated city in the South,
  • Six Cannon Foundries were located in New Orleans,
  • 20 Confederate Generals are buried in Louisiana and
  • The 1st and 3rd Regiments of the Union Native Guard (Corps de’Afrique), black infantry unit organized under Union General Benjamin F. Butler, saw combat in May of 1863 at the Siege of Port Hudson.
